Sandcut

Named one of the top 10 secret beaches by Sunset Magazine, this is a fairly easy 10 minute hike through mossy rainforests ending in a smooth pebbled beach. Spend a half or full day exploring this hidden gem. Walk along a cool sandstone creek that falls below you into a misty waterfall before it disappears into the stony beach. When the tide is low, there are numerous sandstone tidal pools with a rich diversity of colorful ocean life to explore. While enjoying a gourmet lunch, sit back and enjoy amazing views and ocean life passing by.

An easy 20 minute hike through a mature forest full of Sitka Spruce, Douglas-Fir and Red Cedars. The trail ends at tumultuous rolling seas and a fine sand beach perfect for half or full day of picnicking, whale watching, and relaxing. This beach has exceptionally diverse tidal pools to explore at low tide, and a short walk brings you to a view of a waterfall that flows into the ocean. Feeling adventurous? Extend your day and follow the trail from China Beach to neighbouring Mystic Beach.
Mystic (Full day option only)

A moderate, 45 minute walk to the beach. The trail includes a suspension bridge, a walk through a largely rooted trail, and finally a long drop to the beach through giant coniferous trees. Felled, notched trees expose a pristine white sand beach, which harbors a hanging waterfall, caves, and at low tide a walkthrough rock arch. This is a fantastic place to spend the day exploring, stretching out while enjoying a gourmet meal, and taking in spectacular views.
Sombrio (Full day option only)

This is an easy 10 minute walk to the beach through old growth Sitka Spruce. Spend a day exploring cobble stoned and sandy beaches. Along with beautiful coves and sea caves, there is remnants of a community that lived and surfed on this beach for over 30 years. Enjoy a gourmet meal, while taking in spectacular ocean views in this world-class surf destination.
Bear (Full day option only)

This is a 25 minute moderately difficult hike through mossy overgrown forests, down to a long stretch of diverse and rugged beach. A perfect option for sure footed adventurers seeking varied landscape, gourmet food and a day of exploration. Boulder strewn beaches, sandstone tidal pools, hidden waterfalls, giant driftwood washed ashore, sea caves and small stretches of sand await those seeking a true west coast adventure.
Parkinson (Full day option only)

An easy 20 minute walk takes you to an isolated stretch of beach. This is truly a trip for those seeking a remote location to explore. At low tide this rocky stretch of beach provides an opportunity to view some of the richest concentrations of coastal life on Vancouver Island, lush vegetation, and unique rock shelves that make up the beach. Spend a leisurely day exploring tidal pools, wave watching and relaxing or extend your journey for another 3 km to view beautiful Payzant creek nestled deep within the rainforest.
Botanical (Full day option only)

An easy 20 minute walk to the beach, this area is one of the richest tidal areas along the west coast, so much so, that a marine station was built here in 1900 that drew researchers from all over the world. Walk across flat sandstone and granite outcroppings to explore extensive and unique crystal clear tide pools full of a rich variety of marine flora and fauna. A number of beautiful shoreline trails full of geographical marvels will take you from beach to beach. Spend a day exploring, enjoying gourmet food and relaxing, while taking in splendid ocean views.
